29 Apr SPITFIRE GIRL Zoom lecture
May 5, 2021
7:00 pm / 8:00 pm
A fascinating talk about one of the foremost female pilots who flew for Air Transport Auxiliary during World War II (its HQ was at White Waltham). Jackie Moggridge was born in South Africa, joined ATA aged 19, ferried almost 1500 aircraft of many different types, smuggled Spitfires from Israel to Burma after the war and later became the first female airline captain in Britain to carry passengers on regular commercial flights. Her daughter Candida Adkins presents this talk as a fund-raising event for Maidenhead Heritage Centre. Tickets available now on https://maidenheadheritage.org.uk/shop/
