AMERSHAM is a popular market town and civil parish, situated in the Chiltern Hills district of Buckinghamshire. At just 27 miles (43 km) northwest of London, it is part of the London commuter belt and offers easy access to Aylesbury, just 15 miles away (24 km) and High Wycombe, 8 miles away (13 km).
Amersham is split into two distinct areas. Historic Old Amersham sits in the River Misbourne valley and features the 13th century parish church of St. Mary’s and several quaint, ye olde worlde pubs and coaching inns. By contrast, Amersham on the Hill is the modern, newer district that has expanded rapidly since the early 20th century following the opening of Amersham Railway Station in 1892. Excellent links to London and surrounds via mainline and Metropolitan tube line services have seen the town prosper in recent years.
The population of Amersham continues to grow. The estimated population of the town In 2016 is in excess of 24,000 according to the City Population index.
